The Silver Birch (BeithGheal,BetulaPendula)was the first tree to grow in Ireland. It has a silvery white bark and a graceful shape. It grows to a height of about 25 metres and lives for about 60 years. The catkins grow in autumn but do not open until spring. 229 insects live on the Silver Birch
