The Sessile Oak or the Irish Oak (Quercus Petraea , Dair Ghaelach). Sessile means that the acorns, the fruit of the oak, have no stalk. The flowers open in May and the acorns ripen in September. The wood is very hard and it is used for furniture and floors. 284 different insects live on the oak.
