The Fox (Vulpes Vulpes, Sionnach) is one of the most common mammals in Ireland. Foxes are small-to-medium-size canids (slightly smaller than a medium-size domestic dog), with a flattened skull, upright triangular ears, a pointed, slightly upturned snout, and a long bushy tail (or brush). The fox is a carnivore. Its main food is usually rabbits, young hares, rats and small birds. It also eats mice, insects and fruit.
