In 2003, a hill walking group called Mullaghareirk Ramblers was established. We are affiliated with Mountaineering Ireland.
The group meets approximately every 3 weeks to climb mountains in the Munster region. The trails in Broadford and Ashford are of great benefit as they help to maintain our fitness.  Our many walks include The Old Killarney to Kenmare road, Sheep’s Head, Mount Eagle, Mangerton, the Burren, the Galtees, Purple Mountain, Hungry Hill and Brandon to name but a few.
Our proudest achievement occurred in 2011, when we climbed Carrantuohill. Aside from the challenge of climbing the highest mountain in Ireland we were doing this to help our local national school, Scoil Mhuire gain their Active Flag and raise much needed funds for the school.
We are always looking for new members so if you are interested in joining us click on Membership for details.

Membership is open all year round and if you are interested in joining please email us at walkbroadfordashford@hotmail.com. The annual fee for membership is €50 which includes the cost of insurance which we get through  Mountaineering Ireland. More information on the insurance can be obtained at Mountaineering Ireland
